  2.                            Using an XT with FAX
  3.  
  4.      While it can't hurt to try, you may be dissapointed running FAX and/or
  5.  
  6. Voice  software in an XT machine. Not only the processor is SLOW, the  hard
  7.  
  8. drive is not usually fast enough to access the files as quickly as  needed.
  9.  
  10. Even  some 286 will have trouble, and the ones that do work are quite  slow
  11.  
  12. (my 2nd 'fax sending machine' is a 286, so I know). Older machines are also
  13.  
  14. more  likely  to have a BIOS with some problems  with  serial/comports,  or
  15.  
  16. other  things.  Also, Dos 3.3 may work better than a later dos  which  uses
  17.  
  18. more memory.
